No tech knowledge needed. A few plain questions and you'll see exactly what private AI it can run, with nothing leaving the machine. Let's start with the easy one.
Is it a Mac or a Windows PC?
Not sure? If it has an apple logo on the lid or when it starts up, it's a Mac. Otherwise it's Windows.
Let's check your Mac
Click the apple menu 🍎 in the very top-left corner of the screen, then About This Mac. A small window opens with a few lines. We just need two of them.
1. Find the line that starts with Chip. What does it say?
Look at the word right after the number (like "M3 Pro"). No extra word? Pick the first.
GB
Let's check your PC
Press the Windows key, type About, and open About your PC. (Or: Settings → System → About.)
GB
2. Does this PC have a separate graphics card?
Common in gaming or design PCs (names like NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon). Most everyday laptops don't, and that's perfectly fine.
Roughly how much graphics memory? (Task Manager → Performance → GPU → "Dedicated GPU memory".) Not sure? Pick the first.

* "MoE" models fit by their full size but run at the speed of a much smaller one, so that row is happiest at 24–32 GB. On 16 GB, the mid-size row is the safer daily driver. Estimates, confirm on the real machine.
