Dump the Long Prompt, Let AI Shorten It

This week, I dictated a LinkedIn post and uttered "and then, blah, blah, blah." Three times. Each time asking Claude to fill in the blanks.

That's my "braindump" process: long, messy, out loud. I bring the input and the direction. Claude edits it, and fills in the blanks with my past words and ideas. A centaur approach: me for the thinking, AI for the shaping. Nicolas Cole, ghostwriter, put it well on Greg Isenberg's podcast: "I don't want the robots writing for me. What I want is the robots repeating me."

So when I prompt stream-of-consciousness, I think of Blaise Pascal, who apologized to his reader for sending a long letter: he didn't have the time to make it shorter. I don't apologize. I dump the long version, in the car or on a run, and let AI do the part Pascal didn't have time for.

If your prompts are two lines because writing a good one takes too long: don't write the short version. Dump the long one.

These articles come from real builds.

evoilabs helps leaders and their teams spend their time where they add the most value, and builds the systems that quietly handle the rest.
